Galkayo, 2–3 November 2024 — The Puntland Disability Organizations Network (PDON), in collaboration with Save the Children International (SCI) under the NORAD Framework Program, held a two-day workshop aimed at strengthening collaboration between caregivers, OPDs, teachers, and school inclusion committees.
The workshop, titled “Caregiver and OPDs Mobilization Sessions with Teachers and Inclusion Committee on Supporting Children with Disabilities,” brought together 31 participants including parents, teachers, and OPD representatives.
Key sessions covered inclusive education principles, best practices, and the role of OPDs in advocacy. Participants worked in groups to identify challenges and develop action plans to improve inclusion in schools.
Key Outcomes:
- Improved awareness of inclusive education among stakeholders
- Strengthened collaboration between caregivers, OPDs, and teachers
- Action plans developed to address local challenges in schools
Participants called for regular training, better resource mobilization, and the inclusion of government representatives in future sessions.
The event concluded with strong commitments to continue collaboration and follow through on the action plans.
