PDON Commemorates World Physiotherapy Day – 8 September 2025

On 8th September 2025, the Puntland Disability Organizations Network (PDON) proudly joined the global commemoration of World Physiotherapy Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the vital role of physiotherapy in promoting health, mobility, and independence for all.

Free Sessions and Medical Visits

To mark the day, all physiotherapy doctors at PDON’s Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Centre provided free consultations and sessions. Patients of different categories benefited from professional care without any cost, highlighting the organization’s commitment to accessible healthcare.

Pediatric Group Activities

Special group activities were organized for children (pediatric patients). These fun and engaging sessions helped promote movement, balance, and social interaction among young participants, showcasing the importance of physiotherapy in child development.

Awareness for Geriatric Patients

In addition, an awareness session was delivered for elderly patients (geriatric patients) receiving care at the center. The session focused on the importance of physiotherapy in healthy ageing, maintaining independence, and improving quality of life.

Community Awareness Through Media

Recognizing the importance of community-wide awareness, media campaigns were launched across multiple platforms to spread key messages about the role and significance of physiotherapy. These efforts aimed to ensure that the broader community understands how physiotherapy supports strength, balance, and mobility at every stage of life.

Media Partnership and Appreciation

PDON extends sincere gratitude to its affiliate media partners who supported this commemoration by broadcasting and amplifying awareness messages:

  • PLTV
  • Radio Puntland
  • Suweys Media
  • Bosaso Online

Their collaboration helped reach a wider audience and ensured that the positive message of physiotherapy resonated across Puntland.

PDON remains committed to advancing inclusive health services, promoting awareness, and ensuring access to physiotherapy and rehabilitation for persons with disabilities and the wider community.
