Garowe & Qardho, Somalia – August 20, 2024 – In a significant push for inclusive education, the Puntland Disability Organizations Network (PDON) in partnership with Save the Children completed a comprehensive disability screening program across TOFI-supported schools, benefiting 75 children in Garowe and Qardho.
Key Achievements:
- ✔ 75 children screened (40 in Garowe, 35 in Qardho)
- ✔ Customized support provided, including wheelchairs, hearing aids and magnifying glasses
- ✔ Seamless referrals to specialized healthcare providers
- ✔ Community awareness workshops for parents and educators
Program Highlights:
The five-day initiative featured:
- Pre-screening workshops educating stakeholders about the activity
- Professional medical evaluations by specialist consultants
- Immediate provision of assistive devices

- Expand such intervention and the community engagement efforts
- Strengthen partnerships with healthcare providers
