{"id":3245,"date":"2021-03-13T12:08:20","date_gmt":"2021-03-13T12:08:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pdon.org\/pdon\/?p=3245"},"modified":"2021-03-13T12:08:24","modified_gmt":"2021-03-13T12:08:24","slug":"covid19-prevention-awareness-activity-from-the-pwds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pdon.org\/?p=3245","title":{"rendered":"COVID19 Prevention Awareness Activity from the PWDs"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Persons with disabilities generally have more health-care needs than others \u2013 both standard needs and needs linked to impairments \u2013 and are therefore more vulnerable to the impact of low quality or inaccessible health-care services than others.&nbsp;Compared to persons without disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The COVID-19 pandemic is impacting societies at their very core, deepening pre-existing inequalities. People with disability may be at greater risk of developing severe disease if they become infected because of:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The pre-existing health condition underlying the disability; and \u2212 Barriers to accessing health care.<\/li><li>Difficulty in enacting social distancing because of additional support needs or because they are institutionalized;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Addressing this challenges, PDON with the help of the Save the children implemented a disability-inclusive COVID-19 response activity, to Increase the attention given to people with disability and the awareness of the community and the PWDs representative organizations to identify actions to protect people with disability who may be in high-risk situations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have Developed COVID19 prevention information in understandable and diverse formats to suit different needs and disseminated through different ways (Mobile Radios, TV, Social Media, Billboards and Posters).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><a><strong><u>KEY OUTCOMES:<\/u><\/strong><\/a><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>2 PWDs Centers received foot-pumpable hand washes tanks<\/li><li>3 Schools received foot-pumpable handwashes<\/li><li>110 A3 Size stickers of COVID19 Prevention from the persons with disability disseminated<\/li><li>4 Billboard of COVID19 prevention from the persons with disability mounted in Garowe, Burtinle, Qardho and Waciya.<\/li><li>Video Message with sign-language interpretation about COVID19 Preventions from the Persons with disabilities aired through TVs, Social Media and Mobile Radio.<\/li><li>LINKS:<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/1175957302534255\/posts\/1889217077874937\/\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/1175957302534255\/posts\/1889217077874937\/<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/1722832937795159\/posts\/3172583232820115\/\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/1722832937795159\/posts\/3172583232820115\/<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/2060183134252410\/videos\/1598962560264586\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/2060183134252410\/videos\/1598962560264586<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This COVID19 prevention activity from the PWDs was very important for the PWDs, their service providers and care givers, the target beneficiaries was the DPOs, WPDs Centres and the Schools, Parents and the care givers in Garowe, Burtinle, Qardho and Waciya Districts.
