The workshop aimed to inform and equip the CBOs, Teachers and Parents with the knowledge of dealing with and understanding persons with disabilities (PWDs) so as to actively put them in the process of assisting PWDs in whatever way possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The participants were invited from Schools, PWDs Parents and the CBOs with the main actors being those evolve in dealing a person with disability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Opening remarks were made by PDON Chairman Ali Abdi Adan, welcoming the participants and thanking them for the time they made to take part in the workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshop was officially opened by SCI Karkaar Office Representative Mr Mohamed Sh. Osman, &nbsp;who also welcomed the participants and in length gave details about the ongoing project, the interest that SCI has with persons with disability, their rights and how as social workers we can change the attitude of others into welcoming and accepting persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By the end of the workshop the participants were expected to have knowledge on disability, disability and human rights, disability and gender. They were also expected to act as focal points for their respective organizations so that they can include disability issues into the planned activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This workshop was designed to be fully inclusive; the participants were not lectured but they were given ample group works and discussion to help them understand disability. Presentations were made after each discussion followed by a question-and-answer session. Difference of opinion was encouraged so that clarifications and corrections could be made later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The participants participated inclusively, a sign language translator was translating to the participants with hearing impairment to improve their participation and contribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshop drew presumption from the experiences of participants. Techniques that reinforced inclusiveness atmosphere of pleasurable learning were employed. These included<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Presentation and explaining of the Disability types, Disability vs Impairment and types of barriers.<\/li><li>Picture cards about the different types of Disabilities<\/li><li>Comprehensive and inclusive<\/li><li>Discussions.<\/li><li>Question and Answers.<\/li><li>Group work\/discussions followed by presentations<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshop was concluded by both PDON, SCI Karkaar Office and the Karkaar Governor, the participants expressed appreciation for the workshop and were glad with
